OUR MISSION

WINPAC provides early money and mentorship to first time, pro-choice, Democratic women candidates.

The Women’s Investment Network Political Action Committee, or WINPAC, was founded in 1987.  For more than 35 years, WINPAC has raised tens of thousands of dollars each election cycle to help pro-choice Democratic women running for the Oregon Legislature. WINPAC is honored and thrilled to continue to fill the pipeline with Democratic, pro-choice, female candidates – especially after more than 35 years of advocacy and fundraising.  We couldn’t do it without your support.

WINPAC endorses and supports women leaders early, providing the early contributions that make their campaigns run. WINPAC also provides mentorship to help them navigate the process. When WINPAC started in 1987, women held fewer than 10% of the legislative seats in Salem. Today, women make up 43% of the Oregon Legislature, thanks to WINPAC’s help.

Across the country, states look to Oregon as evidence of the positive impact of women serving in elected office. All of the Democratic women serving in the Oregon Legislature today received early financial support from WINPAC. Some now lead both the Oregon House and Senate. And some have moved up to higher office, including our own Governor Kate Brown, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and Labor Commissioner Val Hoyle!

Former Speaker of the Oregon State House

“All of the Democratic women serving in the Oregon Legislature today got their early support from WINPAC. It made an immense difference for each of us and, ultimately, all of Oregon.”

“As a founding member of WINPAC, I have seen how early money to qualified candidates plays out successfully in election after election. WINPAC is the only Oregon group for pro-choice, Democratic women who need what often matters most — money.”
